Carrotillery is a recurring character within the Plants vs. Zombies franchise. Carrotillery attacks by firing heavy damaging carrot missiles at zombies. He has more appearances in official Chinese spin-off games than in international titles.
As of Plants vs. Zombies 3, Carrotillery has appeared in three games.
Origins
Carrotillery is based on the carrot (Daucus carota subsp. sativus), a domesticated root vegetable whose wild counterparts are native to Europe and Southeast Asia.
His name comes from "carrot", the plant in which he's based on, and "artillery", a class of heavy military ranged weapons, referencing his high damaging carrot missiles.
History
Plants vs. Zombies 2 (Chinese version) (China only)
- Main article: Carrotillery (PvZ2C)
Carrotillery first appears in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2, as the first ever Monthly Special Plant introduced. He costs 450 sun to plant and attacks by firing heavy damage carrots (dealing 200 damage per carrot) before needing to recharge for 12 seconds.
His upgrades give him additional carrots and lets him recharge faster while his Plant Food effect has him fire a big carrot on the ground, which will either explode as it lands on a zombie or land on the ground, letting it absorb 400 DPS before exploding. The explosion deals 1,800 DPS in a 1x3 area.
Plants vs. Zombies: Endless Edition (China only) (Archived content)
- Main article: Carrotillery (PvZ: EE)
Carrotillery next appeared in Plants vs. Zombies: Endless Edition, a Chinese port of Plants vs. Zombies as a premium plant. Carrotillery received a redesign in both appearance and his general ability, resembling more of an actual carrot rocket (which his Chinese name directly translates to), costed only 150 sun, and his rockets now only dealt the same damage as a pea, though he no longer required a recharge after firing.
Due to a lack of Plant Food in this game, Carrotillery instead had a chance to fire a large carrot missile on the ground which dealt heavy damage in a 3x3 area once it was eaten. Carrotillery's almanac entry was the only entry from a ported plant to not be at least based on their original entry.
Plants vs. Zombies Heroes
- Main article: Carrotillery (PvZH)
Carrotillery's latest appearance is in the turn-based mobile card game Plants vs. Zombies Heroes as a Premium Uncommon plant in the Smarty class.
He is a Root plant, costs 4, has 5/2 stats, and has Team-Up. His purpose is similar to Shellery, having low health, team-up, and high damage for their cost.
