User blog:Moon Snail/Moon Snail's Top 15 favorite and least favorite plants

From Plants vs. Zombies Wiki

Since these are becoming popular, I decided to take my own crack at it. I will not judge a plant based off of being world-exclusive or having a high price tag (Yes, that means you're off the hook, Electric Blueberry. Cherish this moment, you expensive-a** fruit.), or for their plant food only (Sorry, Spring Bean and Infi-nut.)

The Kings and queens!

#15. Spu-DOOP!

Primal Potato Mine2.png

While I don't like the modern day Potato mine due to his slow recharge and lack of use in later in the level, Primal Potato Mine is a fantastic unit. For only 25 extra sun, you get a lightning-fast arm time, and a huge explosion! Is that cool or what!?

#14. Freeze! Put your hands up!

Iceberg Lettuce2.png

For such a low price tag (If even a price tag), Iceberg Lettuce is a great plant. You can freeze one zombie to catch a bit of time near the beginning.

This is the highest Ancient Egypt plant on the list.

#13. He can swing from a vine!

Grapeshot2.png

As much as I want to include Cherry Bomb instead, because he isn't 7 freaking dollars, I mentioned that I wouldn't judge a plant by its price tag, so alas, I will include this expensive bundle of fruits instead. Grapeshot (Cherry Bomb) is a great plant for saving your skin at the last moment and weakening Gargantuars. Grapeshot (Cherry Bomb) explodes in a 3x3 area, dealing massive damage to every zombie in that area. Another great thing about Grapeshot (Not Cherry Bomb) is the grape spread, which while it doesen't make a big difference, can save you in the worst of times.

If you haven't noticed at this point, I prefer the not freaking 7 dollars Cherry Bomb. I barely see how Grapeshot's added effect makes a big enough difference to spend 7 dollars for.

#12. PUSH

Primal Peashooter2.png

Primal Peashooter is the first of four primal plants. And man, what an introduction it is. Not only does it do more DPS than Peashooter, but it also knocks back Zombies. In addition, place a blover down when a zombie is knocked back to kill them outright! Aw yeah!

#11.Donkey Kong's favorite

Banana Launcher2.png

I don't get why so many people hate this fella. Yes, he's expensive, but for what he does, he has every right to be. He's no Cob Cannon, sure, but he gets the job done. A lot of damage on a lot of zombies. What's not to like?

This is the highest Big Wave Beach plant on the list.

Banana!

#10.IMMA FIRIN MA-

Laser Bean2.png

Hard to believe I used to not like this guy. He attacks every zombie in front of him! Considering the huge amount of zombies this game brings, this is a very good thing.

#9. The great wall... nut.

Primal Wall-nut2.png

I've been waiting for this for generations! A fast recharging defensive plant! Not only that, but it can survive Gargantuar smashes and All-star smashes! Fantastic!

This is the highest Jurassic Marsh plant on the list.

Hard to believe these plants thought evolving into their modern counterparts was a good idea... Except in Sunflower's case.

#8. Blover's brother

Hurrikale2.png

If I had a dollar for every time this guy saved my brains and lawnmowers, I could buy Grapeshot instead of whining about his price tag. This guy pushes back every zombie on the lane. I use this guy EVERYWHERE. Ancient Egypt, Pirate Seas, Wild West, Far Future, Dark Ages, Big Wave Beach, Frostbite Caves, Lost City, Neon Mixtape Torture Chamber, Jurassic Marsh, Modern Day... Can't fail with this guy.

This is the highest Gem Plant on the list.

#7. Duuuuuuusk LOBBA!

Dusk Lobber2.png

Modern Day introduced a lot of Shadow plants as a new mechanic. My most used of the bunch, aside from Moonflower, of course, is this gal. She is exactly what we need. Not only a plant that can hurt multiple zombies, but BENEFITS from multiple zombies! Oh yeah! Only problem with her is her long recharge, which is sad, since I usually Imitate Moonflower to get more up early on. Speaking of imitating...

#6. Copycat!

Imitater2.png

Imitater stops a lot of recharge related problems. You can use him with anything. Imitate a sun producer to get sun faster! Imitate a defensive plant to get defenses up faster! Imitate a Grapeshot (Cherry Bomb) to blast things more constantly! You can't go wrong with Imitater!

#5.Moon Snail

Moonflower2.png

Same sun production as Twin Sunflower for 2/5ths of the cost? Yes. Please. Considering I use Dusk Lobber a lot, I use this girl a lot too. Her slow recharge is nothing if you use the aforementioned Imitater!

This is the highest Modern Day plant on the list.

#4. From Zero to Hero

Blover2.png

If you remember me in 2012, I had a great disdain for Blover. That's because he sucked in the first game. In the second game, on the other hand, ooooooh ho ho, I LOOOOOOOOOOVE this thing! A lot of annoyances such as Imps, Bugs, Balloons, Raptors, etc. are no more! And just look at the combos with this thing! Primal Peashooter, Spring Bean, Chard Guard, YES YES YES PLEASE!

.*Cough* Sorry. Gushed about Blover a little too much there...

#3.Do you freeze in fear... Or do you take the sear?

Cold Snapdragon2.png
Snapdragon2.png

Now I know what you're thinking..."But Cold Snapdragon's better in almost every way than Snapdragon! Why do you include both?" THAT'S why. I want to give poor Snapdragon some limelight alongside his cousin! The Snapdragon bros deal a lot of damage in groups, and shoot in adjacent lanes! That's so cool! Or hot, depending on the dragon...

Cold Snapdragon is the highest Premium on the list, while Snapdragon is the highest Pirate Seas plant on the list.

#2. Vitamin C MY POWER!

Citron2.png

Yes yes yes, I get it. I've heard it all! It takes too long to charge up! It usually shoots weak zombies! It has no splash! But you know what? I love this guy anyway! 40 points of sheer, orangy goodness going right at the zombies! And the plant food effect is great too! Gargantuars are not a problem anymore! Neither are the zombies in front of him!

This plant is the highest Far Future plant on the list.

#1. Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey Yes Yes AWESOME!

Thyme Warp2.png

The only plant. Seriously. The only freaking plant that could possibly rival Hurrikale in the number of times he's saved my brains. Not only does Thyme Warp push zombies on his own lane, but he takes it a step further by doing it to THE ENTIRE LAWN. For 25 sun less than hurrikale, no less. The health restore means nothing when you're saving your skin instantly! Plus, Headgear isn't coming back, and Imps are off the gargs' backs! If Thyme Warp was available in other worlds, you dang bet I'd be using him everywhere! He's the only thing that kept me from losing my sanity in NMT, which I felt was harder than Big Wave Beach otherwise.

Thyme Warp is the highest Neon Mixtape Tour plant on the list.

The Fools.

#15. Beat it, Fatso!

Phat Beet2.png

Sadly, however, Thyme Warp is the only star of the show in Neon Mixtape Tour. Anyway, Phat Beet's main ability is trying too hard to be Gloom-shroom. The damage is too low to even consider using like him. There's barely any reason to use him over Snapdragon or Cold Snapdragon.

#14. Primal Disappointment

Primal Sunflower2.png

Not all primal plants are amazing, as shocking as it is to hear. Primal Sunflower is a prime example of this. While technically better than Sunflower, I have an extremely hard time using this without plant food. Usually, it takes what feels like minutes to produce her first sun. There's a reason why I've lost on the first level in La Brainsa Tarpits twice. Okay, it was mostly due to imps, but Primal Sunflower played a big role too.

This is the highest Jurassic Marsh plant on the list.

#13. You're not Cattail

Homing Thistle2.png

Homing Thistle is very similar to Cattail, my favorite plant in the first game. So how can I not like it? It's much weaker. He only casts one needle, and it does little damage. Plus, there's a lot more zombies, so only one target just doesen't cut it.

#12. Better for Vampires.

Garlic2.png

Why is it nerfed? Why? There's less reason to use Garlic, since there's more zombies, and no Gloom-shroom (Unless you count... *Gag* Phat Beet...) to use with it, so if anything, it needs a buff. Sure, his plant food is good, but that doesen't save it. Remember, no judging solely on Plant Food.

#11. Boing!

Spring Bean2.png

What more can be said? Everyone else nows why Spring Bean is bad. Sure, his plant food is OP, but remember that I'm judging solely on plant food.

This is the highest Pirate Seas plant on the list.

#10. Good Grief!

Pea-nut2.png

This really shouldn't be a premium. It's just too weak. Peashooting plants are only good for Torchwood, so why use this? And why does it become weaker when damaged? It's just discouraging using the "nut" part of this plant.

#9. Replaced!

Bloomerang2.png

This plant is replaced by so many plants, it's ridiculous. Plus, around the time you get him, splash isn't really that important.

This is the highest Ancient Egypt plant on the list.

#8. Just use Sunflower?

Sun Bean2.png

Sun Bean isn't that great. If fed to a basic zombie, you only get a refund. It's only really worth it when boosted.

This is the highest Dark Ages plant on the list.

#7. The Glitch

Blooming Heart2.png

When I first saw this, I thought it would be a not crappy version of number 3 on the list.

It's not.

Yes, I've heard all the "7 dollar cabbage pult" stuff, but that's not why I don't like her. For one, she's disappointing. I thought she'd get stronger when she killed zombies. Instead, she does progressively more damage on one single zombie, which is pointless outside of Gargantuars. Secondly, the glitch, The freaking glitch. The one where she'd stop zombies from taking damage. I HATE IT! I HATE IT WITH A PASSION! AND A VENGEANCE!

This plant disappointed me so much that I ended up thinking up my own plant that was like what I thought Blooming fart would be like.

#6. Sweer Potato

Sweet Potato2.png

Oh hi, reverse garlic. Why are you so expensive? And once again, not useful at all thanks to few plants you can combo with her.

On a side note, I bet she's Garlic's wife that was mentioned in the first game.

#5. Frozen Kelp

Tangle Kelp2.png

Tangle kelp was already pretty weak in PvZ1. But now, he's even worse thanks to low tides.

This is the highest Big Wave Beach plant on the list.

#4. Wasted Potential

Electric Blueberry2.png

Electric Blueberry would almost be 3 if I did judge based off of price, but I digress. Most of her heavy damage is wasted since she rarely ever targets Gargs.

This is the highest Premium plant on the list.

#3. Good at glance, terrible in-depth.

Spore-shroom2.png

It creates more of itself when killing zombies! That's the most awesome thing ever!

At glance? Yes. Once you really think about it? Not in the absolute slightest.

If it kills a zombie at far, the spawn gets eaten very easily due to being close to zombie grounds. If it kills a zombie up close, it's probably eating a plant already, so the spawn doesen't even appear. If it's used with other plants, they kill the zombie before he can thanks to his slow firing speed.

This is the highest Neon Mixtape Tour plant on the list.

#2. The master of none

Dandelion2.png

It only does 2 damage! It fires slowly! It costs 275 sun! The triad of weakness!

If you use it with Blover or Hurrikale, it can't fire for a while. There is literally no reason to use this plant! Even if it's boosted, since its Plant Food effect is weak, and it's so expensive!

This is the highest Gem plant on the list.

#1. The Sun Waster of the Ages

Magnifying Grass2.png

50 sun.

Fifty.

Freaking.

Sun.

For a whopping 25 damage on ONE zombie. Not even able to kill a conehead. The fact that it only hurts one zombie makes it completely worthless. Why not spend 50 sun and get a Squash, which kills most zombies? Or a Shadow-shroom, which causes nearly double the damage, and can hit multiple zombies? Or a Primal Potato mine, which kills almost every zombie in a 3x3 radius? You can kill or greatly damage MULTIPLE zombies with 50 sun, while this weak piece of glass can only slightly scratch one.

It also takes 350 sun to kill a garg and his imp, while you can use the same amount of sun with 2 cherry bombs/Grapeshots and a blover to do the same to multiple. This plant is utterly useless and overshadowed by so many things that even Bloomerang would feel bad for it.

This is the highest Far Future plant on the list.

The End

I hope you enjoyed it! I had a hard time thinking of my worst plants. What's your opinion? Leave a comment! I'd like to know!

So long, User, And Thanks for keeping the wiki beautiful! ~Moon SnailCitron Costume2.png 20:28, February 28, 2016 (UTC)
