User blog:Sucksthemost/Pvz1 "Exam"

  • I like the idea of creating an "exam" for pvz1 content (e.g. in Plants vs Zombies Examination Wiki), so I'll also create one that requires less memorisation of random trivia.

Q1

State the plants and procedures for an efficient 6 seed slots money-farming strategy in lvl 1-2 replay.

Q2

Compare and contrast the advantages, disadvantages and viability of Cherry Bomb1.png vs Doom-shroom1.png in pvz1 adventure mode and survival endless.

Q3

  • Ben received a Hypno-shroom1.png seedling from survival endless. In his mushroom Zen Garden, he grew his Hypno-shroom to full-size, before immediately selling it to Crazy Dave. Calculate Ben's net profit / loss. (Assume that Hypno-shroom needs to be watered 4 times to grow to the next stage.)
  • Ben only has a total 12 plants in all 3 Zen Gardens, and needs more coins (but not urgently). He has purchased the phonograph and Stinky the snail. Is it a good idea to immediately sell his Hypno-shroom to Crazy Dave after growing it to full size? Why?

*Q4

State 4 points why Winter Melon1.png is generally a more viable choice than Gatling Pea1.png + Torchwood1.png in survival endless.

Q5

Amy has completed adventure mode and all the free puzzles and mini games once. She now has 52000 Coins. Suggest an efficient way to money-farm without her replaying adventure mode.

  • Note: She only has all adventure mode obtained plants and did not purchase any upgrade plants from Crazy Dave's store.

Q6

Suggest a viable 6 seed slots strategy to achieve the Good Morning achievement in lvl 1-6 replay. (It has Zombie1.png Conehead Zombie1.png and Pole Vaulting Zombie1.png ) No lawnmowers must be lost and no garden rake must be used.

Q7

Suggest a way to easily achieve No Fungus Among Us achievement.

Q8

Tom's Bobsled Bonanza "strategy" is as follows: Sunflower1.png Squash1.png Squash1.png (imitated) Tangle Kelp1.png Jalapeno1.png Cherry Bomb1.png

  • Suggest a big problem in his strategy, and how he can rectify it.

Q9

For both parts of this question, Charlie is left with 1 final lane to clear before being able to complete a streak in I, Zombie Endless. Help him find the most cost-efficient strategies to clear these 2 final lanes.
*(a) Streak 5, final lane: Brain Squash1.png Potato Mine1.png Peashooter1.png Wall-nut1.png Chomper1.png
(b) Streak 6, final lane: Brain Snow Pea1.png Repeater1.png Split Pea1.png Spikeweed1.png Sunflower1.png

Q10

Dan claimed that the Grounded achievement is easily achievable by replaying lvl 5-1 (contains Zombie1.png Conehead Zombie1.png and Bungee Zombie1.png) with the following plants: Sunflower1.png Squash1.png Flower Pot1.png Umbrella Leaf1.png Split Pea1.png (the sole attacker) and one more plant. Suggest what that plant could be and the layout of this set-up.
Ethan claimed that Sunflower1.png Potato Mine1.png Flower Pot1.png Coffee Bean1.png, a defensive plant like Pumpkin1.png and a certain mushroom as a main attacker can complete most roof levels too. Suggest what that mushroom is.

Q11

(a) Ian claimed that since Magnet-shroom1.png is able to counter so many special abilities of pvz1 zombies in Survival endless, such as Football Zombie's helmet and Pogo Zombie's pogo stick, Magnet-shroom is a must in endless zones.
Comment on this statement.
(b) Ian's friend suggested him to "ladder" his Pumpkin1.pngs in survival endless, or to let Ladder Zombie1.pngs place their ladders on all Pumpkins on the land. Is this a good suggestion? Why?

Q12

Sheila devised a set-up she plans to use when playing Survival Endless:
Pool lanes: 4 Cob Cannon1.pngs on columns 1,2,5 and 6. 4 Winter Melon1.pngs on columns 3 and 4. Fill columns 7,8 and 9 with Gloom-shroom1.pngs.
Land lanes: For the top two lanes, she plans to place 2 Gloom-shrooms on column 2, 4 Winter Melons on columns 3 and 4, 2 Cob Cannons on columns 5 and 5, and fill columns 1, 7, 8 and 9 with Spikerock1.pngs. The same will be repeated for the bottom 2 lanes.
Pumpkin all Winter Melons and Gloom-shrooms.
(a)State the problems in Sheila's set-up, and how they can be rectified.
(b)Sheila rectifies her set-up according to your suggestions in part a. Once her survival endless set-up is completed, Sheila brings these plants with her: Coffee Bean1.png, Doom-shroom1.png, Imitated Doom-shroom, Jalapeno1.png, Cherry Bomb1.png, Squash1.png, Kernel-pult1.png, Cob Cannon, Melon-pult1.png, and Winter Melon.
Propose some plants Sheila should bring (and some plants Sheila should not bring) in her ten seed slots.

Q13

*(a) After clearing 2 rows of a level in a custom-made level in I, Zombie Endless, Tom found himself stuck with 3 consecutive lanes as shown:
Brain Fume-shroom1.png Magnet-shroom1.png Fume-shroom1.png Magnet-shroom1.png Wall-nut1.png
Brain Fume-shroom1.png Sunflower1.png Wall-nut1.png Fume-shroom1.png Fume-shroom1.png
Brain Fume-shroom1.png Magnet-shroom1.png Fume-shroom1.png Magnet-shroom1.png Wall-nut1.png
Tom has 500 sun, and all the zombies in I, Zombie Endless (with their respective sun costs). Suggest a viable, and cost effective strategy to clear these 3 lanes.
**(b)Suggest the most cost-effective strategy to clear each of the 2 set-ups. All the zombies in I, Zombie Endless, with their respective sun costs can be used:
Set-up 1:
Brain Hypno-shroom1.png Hypno-shroom1.png Hypno-shroom1.png Hypno-shroom1.png Hypno-shroom1.png
Brain Hypno-shroom1.png Hypno-shroom1.png Hypno-shroom1.png Hypno-shroom1.png Hypno-shroom1.png
Brain Hypno-shroom1.png Hypno-shroom1.png Hypno-shroom1.png Hypno-shroom1.png Hypno-shroom1.png
Set-up 2:
Brain Hypno-shroom1.png Repeater1.png Hypno-shroom1.png Hypno-shroom1.png Hypno-shroom1.png
Brain Gatling Pea1.png Hypno-shroom1.png Magnet-shroom1.png Hypno-shroom1.png Hypno-shroom1.png
Brain Hypno-shroom1.png Repeater1.png Hypno-shroom1.png Hypno-shroom1.png Hypno-shroom1.png
You may assume that the player starts off with 9990 sun.

**Q14

Suggest a viable 8 seed slots strategy for one to complete the Pogo Party minigame itself, while simultaneously getting the Grounded and Sproing! Sproing! achievements. Furthermore, no lawnmowers must be lost and no garden rake must be used.

Q15

Bella challenges herself to complete a custom-made Last Stand (pool) level.
(a)Immediately, she picked Fume-shroom, Coffee Bean, and Gloom-shroom into her seed selection. Suggest one possible reason why she might do so.
**(b) The custom-made level has 3 flags:
The first flag consists of large swarms of Zombie1.pngs, Conehead Zombie1.pngs (and their pool variants), Pole Vaulting Zombie1.pngs and Dancing Zombie1.pngs
The first to 2nd flag involves large numbers of Buckethead Zombie1.pngs, Conehead Zombie1.pngs (and their pool variants), moderate numbers of Ladder Zombie1.pngs and Screen Door Zombie1.pngs.
The 2nd to 3rd flag consists of large numbers of Pogo Zombie1.pngs, Buckethead Zombie1.pngs, and Screen Door Zombie1.pngs, around 4 Football Zombie1.pngs and the occasional Conehead Zombie1.pngs and Dancing Zombie1.pngs.
The final flag consists of mainly Pogo Zombie1.pngs, Buckethead Zombie1.pngs, Screen Door Zombie1.pngs and 4 Football Zombie1.pngs. One Gargantuar1.png will appear on the topmost and bottommost lanes each, and 1 Dolphin Rider Zombie1.png will appear on each of the two pool lanes.
Bella starts off with 2100 sun. She planted 4 Gloom-shrooms on C6R2,5 and C5R2,5, 2 Garlics on C9R2,5, 2 Lily Pads on C5R3,4, 4 Wall-nuts on C5R1,3,4,5, 2 Magnet-shrooms on C4R2,5 and was prepared to spend sun on up to 4 Squashes to kill the Gargantuars. Her strategy did not work out.
Without changing the position of the Gloom-shrooms, modify her strategy so that she can complete the level with the maximum amount of remaining sun. No lawnmowers must be lost and no garden rake and/or mallet must be used.
Note: Dolphin Riders, without vaulting and Football Zombies can survive the Gloom-shroom attack, but the 2 Gloom-shrooms attack can barely kill a Buckethead.

*Q16

Compare the minimum amount of sun needed to complete each of these 3 lanes. Assume that these 3 lanes are the last lanes to clear before being able to complete each respective streak in I, Zombie Endless
Lane 1:
Brain Repeater1.png Snow Pea1.png Squash1.png Repeater1.png Split Pea1.png
Lane 2:
Brain Snow Pea1.png Repeater1.png Potato Mine1.png Repeater1.png Split Pea1.png
Lane 3:
Brain Repeater1.png Snow Pea1.png Potato Mine1.png Repeater1.png Split Pea1.png
