The Shadow line (暗影系; pinyin: ànyǐng xì) was a Class S Brave plant line in Plants vs. Zombies: All Stars introduced in the 1.0.103 update.

The line consisted of Moonflower (月光花; pinyin: yuèguāng huā), Nightshade (暗影龙葵; pinyin: ànyǐng lóngkuí), and Grimrose (暗樱草; pinyin: àn yīng cǎo). They all attacked the furthest enemy by firing flower petals and could go into shadow form.

Origins

The members of the Shadow line were based on Moonflower, Nightshade, and Grimrose from Plants vs. Zombies 2, respectively.

These specific plants were chosen due to all three of them being shadow plants that were also flowers.

Ways to obtain

The Shadow line could only be obtained through special offers or 2500-gems chest. Additional Puzzle Pieces could be obtained through the Soulmates Puzzle system.

Abilities

Abilities were unlocked by tiering up.

Note: It's currently unknown what shadow form did.

Tier	Effect	Description
1	Shadow Raid [Active]	Deals damage to three random enemies. Each activation increases shadow level by 1. Attacks deal more damage for each shadow level. When shadow level reaches 4, goes into shadow form for 2 turns. After that shadow level resets to 0.
2	Shadow Split [Passive]	While shadow level is greater than 0, each attack strikes an additional random enemy.
3	Absolute Darkness [Passive]	Shadow form goes live for one more turn (3 in total). Shadow form now also increases defense.

Star leveling

After unlocking the Shadow line, additional puzzle pieces could be used to upgrade it, which increased its stats and ability LVs.

Note: Despite the fact that abilities of this line couldn't be upgraded, in-game description still mentioned such possibility.

Trivia

• Despite all members of the Shadow line having powered petals, they all attacked with regular petals.
• Shadow line's unique method of attacking was probably caused by a bug, since it was never described in the game.
