Dr. Zomboss's Revenge 2 (僵尸博士的复仇2; pinyin: Jiāngshī Bóshì De Fùchóu Èr) is the sequel to Dr. Zomboss's Revenge exclusive to Plants vs. Zombies: Original Edition. It is similar to its prequel, but the player has to pick their own plants, starting the level with 4000 sun and no roof cleaners.

Strategies

Casual

Least Slots Without Doom-shroom and Starfruit

  • Required plants:
    • Sunflower
    • Flower Pot
    • Ice-shroom
    • Jalapeno
    • Melon-pult
    • Squash
  • Plant Melon-pults starting from the leftmost column if needed, all while planting Sunflowers starting from the third column from the left.
  • Plant at least two Squashes on the rightmost column to damage the Zombot before it lowers. They do not attack zombies spawned on their left. Plant Sunflowers on the rest of the Flower Pots to provide extra sun.
  • Always save Ice-shroom and Jalapeno for the Zombot.
  • Stall zombies using Flower Pots.
    • Each Buckethead Zombie can be defeated using 2 Melon-pults and stalling from Flower Pots.
  • Plant as many Sunflowers as possible to serve as cannon fodders and to distract his Bungee Zombie and camper attack.
  • All zombies disappear when the Zombot is defeated.

4 Slots Only/Without Sun-Producing Plants

  • Required plants:
    • Flower Pot
    • Starfruit
    • Pumpkin
    • Ice-shroom
  • Plant a column of Starfruit on the rightmost column to defeat early zombies. Build a defense towards the left starting from the farthest column of Flower Pots.
  • Freeze the Zombot before it creates a giant ball to utilize the entire freezing duration.
  • Always replant Starfruits on the rightmost column before the Zombot lowers. Plant one to two extra Starfruits to deal extra damage if possible.
  • Protect the Starfruits on said column when tough zombies approach.
  • One Starfruit with several shots from other lanes are usually enough to defeat Bungee Zombies on top and Pogo Zombies on the row.
  • Stall zombies with Flower Pots and Pumpkin.
  • Distract Catapult Zombies by replanting Flower Pots from the left if needed.
  • All zombies disappear when the Zombot is defeated.

Tips

  • While the the Zombot's stomp attack can crush most nearby plants, it cannot crush those on the rightmost column in this version. So it is highly recommended to place plants there, as they'll be completely unkillable.
    • Starfruits are a great choice, as all 5 of their stars hit the Zombot at once when his head is down, dealing absurd damage.
  • Always try to have an Ice-shroom and Jalapeno in stock for Zomboss' iceball and fireball attacks. If possible, save up many of two plants for Zomboss' attacks, as well as for tougher enemies such as Gargantuars and Zombonis. Sometimes Dr. Zomboss deploys two Gargantuars in a row.
  • When Dr. Zomboss ducks down to attack you with an iceball or fireball, use Ice-shrooms to freeze him so that your plants have more time to do damage. It is also possible to keep re-freezing him with multiple Ice-shrooms before and after his attacks, providing a huge opening for your plants, but remember not to use up all of them.
  • Avoid using a Jalapeno while he is frozen solid, as this will un-freeze him and let him move away. However, you should use them when he is only slowed down.
  • Note that he may place zombies in rows where he has just placed a fireball or ice ball and vice versa.
  • Save spare plants and Flower Pots instead of planting over the edge of the roof to be able to repair the damage from campers which Dr. Zomboss throws faster.

Trivia

  • This is the only level in any version of Plants vs. Zombies that gives the player more starting sun, but isn't a Last Stand level (or a different level type like I, Zombie).
  • It, its prequel and Air Raid DS are the only mini-games with Dr. Zomboss.
  • It, its prequel, Level 5-10 and Invisi-ghoul are the only levels in the game with no visible zombies shown at the start of the level.
  • It, its prequel and Homerun Derby are the only mini-games which have the Catapult Zombie, but Homerun Derby is debatable as the Catapult Zombie in that game technically is not an enemy to the player.
  • It and its prequel are the only mini-games which take place on the Night Roof (excluding Survival: Night Roof (Endless), which can be accessed only by hacking, although it is not shown on the Limbo Page).
  • If the player uses Doom-shrooms on this level, craters created will be the same as those created on roof due to the lack of night roof crater variant in the game.
