This is something I'm doing completely for fun. It's based on an idea Sapfling had but has decided to since delete for Plants. Is this going to be used at all? Probably not, though I did like the idea.

What is a Classification?

In this context, it's putting categories onto Zombies. These may be pre-existing from games in the series (Armored, Swarm etc) or a term made up just for this blog (Basic, Copy etc).

List of Classifications and Meaning

Attempted to be done in abc order, along with what game the term is from if it's from anywhere and definition.

  • Amphibious (term first from Heroes) - This zombie either appears only in the water or can appear on both land and water.
  • Anti-Hero (term first from Heroes) - This zombie deals more damage to Plant heroes, as long as nothing is in front of it.
  • Area-Effecting (altered term from 3) - This zombie effects more than one location at a time with their abilities.
  • Armored (term first from Heroes) - This zombie wears armor to either protect itself from damage or lower damage taken to it.
  • Backbiter (term from 3) - This zombie attacks Plants from behind.
  • Basic (original term) - This zombie is well, basic. They lack any special ability.
  • Boss (term first from Garden Warfare) - This zombie is well, a boss. Usually these bosses have high damage, a variety of attacks, and are required to be defeated in order to progress.
  • Brute (term from 3) - Not a boss, but they still have hefty amounts of health and can be easily called a mini-boss.
  • Bullseye (term from Heroes) - This zombie can hurt a Plant hero without charging their Super-Block Meter.
  • Copy (original term) - This zombie for the most part is just a copy of another zombie. Their abilities are exactly the same as a pre-existing zombie and sometimes even share the same model.
  • Copycat (original term) - This zombie banks on Plants assuming they are the term above (Copy), but instead are completely different.
  • Cowardly (original term) - This zombie runs away from Plants rather than approaching them.
  • Crushing (term from 3) - This zombie attacks plants by attempting to crush them. These usually instantly kill a Plant, though certain attacks take multiple hits and certain Plants can survive multiple attempts.
  • Deadly (term from Heroes) - This zombie's attacks can destroy a Plant in one hit. Sometimes the zombie can be "neutralized" to prevent this ability. Zombies that instantly destroy via crushing or explosives don't count as deadly.
  • Decorative (original term) - Either decorative itself or an aspect of it is decorative.
  • Defensive (term slightly altered from Battle for Neighborville) - This zombie prioritizes defending either the objective or others rather than attacking Plants, though some can do that as well.
  • Deflector (term altered from 3) - This zombie takes certain attacks and sends them right back.
  • Distortive (original term) - This zombie can distort Plant defensives in some way, such as bouncing or stealing Plants or distort the lawn.
  • Elemental (original term) - This zombie has an element it uses against Plants. Certain zombies have "types" added to them in 3, but unless this type is specifically used by them, these don't count.
  • Explosive (original term) - These zombies well, explode. Fortunately, these deal heavy damage to plants, unfortunately, these deal heavy damage to everything else too (usually.)
  • Flying (term from 3) - This zombie can fly over Plants. In certain games, this lets them be immune to most damage, except for Plants that can specifically attack the air.
  • Frenzy (term from Heroes) - This zombie attacks again once they destroy a Plant. Under certain circumstances.
  • Hungry (term from 2, used differently than that game) - Don't instantly kill Plants, but their attacks do more damage than average.
  • Hunter (term slightly altered from Heroes) - This zombie specifically targets the most recently created Plant.
  • Lane-Changer (term from 3) - This zombie changes lanes on their own accord or makes other zombies do so.
  • Leaper (original term) - This zombie leaps over Plants in their way. Either certain plants can stop them, or they are susceptible to blowing plants while in this state.
  • Magnetic - This zombie has an objective that's susceptible to Magnet-shroom.
  • Obstacle (term from 3) - The zombie itself finds a way to be an obstacle, or carries something that is an obstacle itself.
  • Overshooter (term slightly altered from Heroes) - This zombie finds a way to attack over Plant defensives, in one way or another. This includes projectiles, "unalive" or otherwise.
  • Piercer (original term) - This zombie can attack multiple Plants at once.
  • Plant-Supportive (original term) - This zombie supports z...wait why did it just benefit Plants?
  • Ranged (term originally from 3 but used differently) - This zombie has a projectile to attack Plants.
  • Robotic (original term) - These zombies are machines, and for the most part aren't actually zombies, just robots.
  • Self-Destructive (original term) - These zombies find a way to destroy themselves, though usually not before their ability activates.
  • Shielded (term from Heroes, used differently) - These zombies are similar to Armored zombies except they use shields, which usually are less effective.
  • Spawner (term from 3) - This zombie spawns either other zombies or obstacles.
  • Special (original term) - This zombie is special in some way, usually exclusive to a side-mode. Bosses don't count, they already are "special".
  • Speedy (term in a few games) - This zombie is simply really fast, faster than most zombies. Sometimes their defining feature.
  • Stealthy (original term) - This zombie hides prior to being properly revealed. Most of these zombies are immune to most attacks prior to being revealed, though certain ones are susceptible to attacks.
  • Supportive (term slightly altered from Battle for Neighborville) - This zombie leans more towards supporting zombies than reaching the objective and destroying Plants.
  • Swarm (term from 3, though used differently) - This zombie rarely comes alone, and usually comes in sets.
  • Transformative (original term) - This zombie transforms in one way or another. Either they change forms when defeated or can change forms at will. This can include phases as well.
  • Undying (term has been used in the games but it means something different here) - This zombie has a way to return once destroyed.
  • Untrickable (term from Heroes) - This zombie is immune to Tricks.
  • Variant (term first from Garden Warfare) - This zombie is a "variant" of another zombie, usually having a new ability to go along with their base character's original abilities.
  • Vehicle (original term) - These zombies ride a vehicle or mech. Simple.
  • Veteran (term from 2) - Specifically a stronger version of another zombie.
  • Worldly (original term) - This zombie has variants of itself. To prevent a whole sprung of copy zombies, zombies with this term will not have said variants put, they're usually attached to their page anyways.

To avoid spamming the same few classifications onto a few zombies, the terms "Decorative" and "Ranged" will not be used for shooter zombies. They all (except TV Head) have customizations and for the most part, they all have projectile weapons.

Zombies

(Random note: I WANTED to use Long-Section for these, but for some reason, the template just wasn't working at all.) For now, not including Chinese-only zombies, though that can easily change.
