Treasure Buster (宝藏吞噬者; pinyin: Bǎozàng Tūnshì Zhě) is the seventh level of Creativity Mode in Plants vs. Zombies: Original Edition, being a mini-game, more specifically the first level themed on the popular Chinese mod 植物大战僵尸杂交版 (Plants vs. Zombies: Hybrid Version). The level was made by the Hybrid Mod Team (杂交版团队).

The player is given 15 seed packets pre-selected against a massive army of hybridized zombies. Nut Imitaters are given to create a defense with hybridized variants of Wall-nut, Treasure Busters are given for some extra offensive plants and sun production, and both Sun Bomb and Jalapeno for a single-use emergency plant, with the former also being additional sun production. The player can not plant on the first 3 tiles on the top lane, as well as on the 4th and 5th tiles on the bottom lane due to the treasures blocking the tiles.

500 sun is given at the beginning of the level, and the sun that falls from the sky is double the size and value, giving 50 sun each.

The player can also watch ads or share an invitation code to plant special hybrid plants, once per ad/invitation, as well as to buy power-ups, those being: Extra Sun - gives a total of 500 sun instantly; Cooldown Reset - resets the seed packet recharge of every plant in your chosen seeds; Jalapeno Storm - plants a Jalapeno in every single tile of the lawn.

Origins

The level was done in collaboration with Plants vs. Zombies: Hybrid Version, a popular Chinese mod created by 潜艇伟伟迷 (SubmarineWeiWeiPVZ).

  • Giga-gargantuars can now appear throughout the level.

Update 1.0.35

  • Regular Gargantuars can now appear throughout the level.
  • All Gargantuar types will now appear in higher quantities.

Update 1.0.40

Strategies

  • Begin by planting Nut Imitaters in every lane, and keep re-planting if needed, as some of the Wall-nut variants might not be helpful at all to deal with early-game threats, such Crater-nut, Magnet-nut, etc.
  • As soon as Treasure Busters are available to be planted, immediately plant them on the 9th or 8th columns, as these golden craters are pretty essential for late-game, as they have a chance of giving overpowered plants that can deal with Gargantuar spam.
  • In the meantime, try using Sun Bomb on hordes of zombies for maximized sun outcome, as sun is pretty needed for the constant Nut Imitater spam.
  • Keep attacking Wall-nut variants in the back, such Ice-nut, Melon-nut, Zombie Wall-nut, etc. while the rest of the variants mostly in the front, like Magnet-nut, but sometimes in the back as a trap for the thrown Imps, such as Jalapeno Wall-nut, additionally, avoid Crater-nut at all costs, and dig them up as soon as they get spawned if they are not distracted by any zombie, in order to get rid of the craters as soon as possible.
  • Protect the top lane at all costs, and reserve your Jalapeno for that lane, as an Imp might get thrown to the 3rd column in which you can not plant anything at all, so Sun Bombs and Jalapenos are the only to deal with them, unless you get a Hot Dog Shooter or something similar that can attack from behind.
  • Reminder that Treasure Busters must be planted immediately as soon as they are available for planting, in order to get more and more overpowered plants for better performance.
