User blog:Moon Snail/Moon Snail's Top 10: Best and Worst Plant Food Effects!

From Plants vs. Zombies Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Hey look! Moon Snail made another crappy top 10 that everyone will ignore!

Plant Food. Probably one of the best things added to PvZ2. It can make otherwise useless plants more usable, and already powerful plants even better! Here, I'll be counting down the best of these limit breaks, as well as the ones that are very unremarkable. The only rule is that I can't increase a plant's rank on the list based on how good it is with other plants (Which also means Spring Bean will not be appearing). Anyway, let's get started!

The epic powers!

Number 10: Blue Flare

Blue Torchwood Gold Tile.jpg

To start off the list, here's a plant that, while not great, still has a pretty powerful plant food effect. Torchwood obtains more powerful flames, which go from doubling a pea's power to QUADRUPLING a pea's power! Even a lowly Repeater can kill a Gargantuar with this! So why is this only number 10? Still no splash. Popcap, PLEASE bring Torchwood's splash back for This is a hidden spoiler. If you want to see it, please go here.
the levelling update!

Number 9: Technospikes

Cactus PF2.png

Now that I've actually bought Cactus, my opinion on her has improved. I still don't think she's that great, but she is by no means terrible. Now, what's most certainly the opposite of terrible is her plant food ability. It's quite simple: She permanently gains powered spikes, allowing her to do more damage and pierce through more zombies! My only complaint is that she doesen't have a bonus for this, like Nightshade does.

Number 8: F*** YOU GARGANTUARS! >:D

Explode-O-Nut Plant Food2.png

As if Explode-o-nut wasn't powerful enough, his plant food effect is really good! He gains another coat of armor, like all Wall-nuts, but here's the kicker: The armor explodes too! This means that a Gargantuar smashes it twice... which ends up killing him, unless we're talking about Jurassic Gargs. Having a boosted one makes it a cheaper, faster recharging, double damage Cherry Bomb! Hell. Fricking. YES.

Number 7: LAZORS and Plasma Blasts

Laser Bean PF.png

Citron PF2.png

Two plants from the future say "Goodbye!" to your lane of zombies! Both of them fire a projectile that destroys an entire lane of zombies! The only difference between the two is that Citron also instakills Gargs at the cost of not killing anything behind him.

Number 6:The "Back off, zombies!" trio.

Fume-shroomC PF.png

ChomperC PF.png

Primal Peashooter PF.png

These three plants have three different plant food powers, but they all have one thing in common: They push back zombies! Fume-shroom blows them back with a huge blast of fumes, damaging them in the process. Chomper swallows three zombies instantly, and burps with enough force to blow zombies far back. And Primal Peashooter shoots peas with guaranteed knockback! These guys can easily bring zombies back to the beginning of the lawn! If I had to choose a best one, I'd probably say Fume-shroom, as it deals a ton of damage in the process of pushing zombies back.

Number 5: ZING ZING ZING BOOM BOOM BOOM

BowlingBulbPF.png

Bowling Bulb is not a plant I remember very often. But when I do, it's for that amazing plant food effect! It sends three explosive bulbs that still riccochet off of zombies! Clumps beware!

Number 4: SUN SUN SUN SUN!

(No images this time. I'd have to move really far to find the pictures for these.)

These guys are self explanatory. Drops plenty of sun!

Number 3: MELON RAIN. SOME STAY DRY WHILE- Actually, most feel the pain.

Angry Winter Melon.png

Winter Melon shoots melons with huge damage and splash on EVERY zombie! Clumps, beware again! In the later endless zone levels, this guy simply destroys everything!

Number 2: FREEZE, EVERYONE!

Iceberg Lettuce PF.png

Iceberg freezes EVERY ZOMBIE! Even the ones off-screen! You won't have to worry for a while as your plants chip away at the now frozen zombies while you buy yourself some time for sun and plant packs! What could be better?

Number 1: Honey, I shrunk the everything.

Shrinking Violet happy.png

THIS could be better! While Iceberg Lettuce's plant food effect only temporarily affects the zombies, this one PERMANENTLY affects them! You can worry even less as those zombies you used to have a hard time with turn into wimps! No more imps, no more chickens, no more weasels! Surfer zombies can't hurt your plants! Bucketheads aren't so threatening now with half their health, are they? Gargs, you can finally taste getting one-shot by cherry bombs! Oh, hiding off-screen, are ya? Pathetic! YOU AREN'T SAFE ANYWHERE! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

.*Cough Cough*. Sorry, I went a bit too crazy there. Thankfully, I got 5 strength, 5 health and Frenzy in the process, so it isn't all bad, right?

Anyway, those are obviously great, but not all plant food effects are created equal. There are some that simply can't see any use. And here they are!

The Pathetic excuses for powers.

Number 10: SUN SUN- ...Sun?

MoonflowerPF.png

While Moonflower is my sun producer of choice, her plant food effect is very disappointing. She produces a whopping 100 sun... Which is what she normally produces, and creates a weaker infi-nut barrier, which means jack s***, as she almost always sits in the back.

Number 9: Wow, she couldn't even get that right.

PvZ2 Magnifying Grass Plant Food.png

Ah crap. We're talking about this plant again. You all know I only have bad things to say about this plant, so let's not waste time.  As much as I despised this plant, I felt she would at least have a good plant food effect. But nope. Just a wimpy laser that only targets one zombie. Good job, Magnifying Grass. You wasted your one opportunity to be at least somewhat usable! Here! Claim your reward!

Magnifying Grass2.png: Yay! A reward! *Opens door*

Smoosh-ShroomH.png: SURPRISE, MOTHER POLLENATOR! *Smashes Magnifying Grass*

Hopefully, Popcap can make something worthwile with that glass.

Number 8: APPROACHING SOUND BARRIER!

PhatBeetPlantFood2.png

So... Let me get this straight...

Phat Beet2.png: Yeah?

Your plant food effect can't even kill normal zombies at range...

Phat Beet2.png: Yes.

And against zombies close to you, it's just an inferior Strawburst plant food effect?

Phat Beet2.png: I guess.

...This is why you're miles worse than Gloom-shroom.

Phat Beet2.png: Thank you for your time, idiot.

Excuse me?

Phat Beet2.png: You call me worse than an upgrade plant from the first game, yet one of your favorite plants is just a crappier Cob Cannon. Hypocritical, much?

Well, at least Banana Launcher is somewhat usable in the world he was introduced in. I mean, he's the only real counter to those octopus (censored).

Phat Beet2.png: Whatever. Seeya, a**hole.

No problem.

Number 7: BOMB SEED RAIN... SOME STAY DRY WHILE- actually, this time, most stay dry.

DandelionPlantFood.png Just like the plant himself, Dandelion's plant food effect is just crappy. He shoots a ton of seeds that fall onto zombies empty tiles most of the time, and don't do much damage even if he hits anything. Also like the plant himself, it still sucks after being buffed.

Number 6: Three gulps... If you're lucky.

Toadstool pf1.png

Just to prove that Toadstool isn't a direct upgrade to Chomper, his plant food effect is very much useless. He grabs three zombies, swallows them, and produces 150 sun. Even if you have a boosted one, he can't even refund himself with this. Worse still is that it's been pretty glitchy, and I only seem to get him to swallow one zombie with this.

Number 5: Tactical Suicide? More like IMPRACTICAL suicide!

DurianPlantFood1.PNG

It... It's a defensive plant... That kills itself when getting Plant Food.

...

......

NEXT.

Number 4: So bad, I have nothing clever to say.

Bloomerange PF.png

Let's be honest here... Who even uses Bloomerang anymore? You'd think he'd at least have something to make himself better than Laser Bean, Fume-shroom, AKEE and Cactus, but nope. Not even his plant food effect. He just tosses 10 boomerangs in every direction. It's very weak and does not even kill coneheads.

Number 3: Just the usual, sir!

Grimrose PF.png

Wow, Grimrose just... does what she normally does. Wow. And I thought Toadstool was bad for this.

Number 2: Plant Duplication is, sadly, still useless.

CeleryStalkerPlantFood.png

Celery Stalker simply spawns several stupid similar specimens of itself. Alliteration aside, this is just useless. You'll only really need one CS per row, so creating more is just dumb. Plus, I've had it hurt me more than help me! Have you played MD's version of Aerostatic Gondola with a boosted one? It ain't fun. It keeps spawning the damn things on the boulder tiles, completely killing your strategy. What could be worse!?

Number 1: Wow! Look! Nothing!

Sweet Potato Plat Food.png

THIS could be worse! And it isn't even digital style! The only thing worse than effectively useless is LITERALLY useless! So what does it do? It heals itself and dances. Amazing. Okay, sure, it attracts zombies behind her, but if a zombie has bypassed her, you're doing something wrong. Even though she heals herself, she's cheaper and recharges faster than Power Lily, so you're better off just using Wall-nut First Aid on her!

Final note

Thanks for reading this! I thought nobody would, but I'm glad at least someone else did. Feel free to leave a comment if you have anything to say about the list. Seeya!
