Level 2-1 is the eleventh level in Plants vs. Zombies, Plants vs. Zombies: Endless Edition, and Plants vs. Zombies: Great Wall Edition, and is the first of the Night levels, being a regular level. When this level is beaten for the first time, the player obtains the Sun-shroom.

Dialogue

(Crazy Dave appears)
Crazy Dave: Evening, [Playername].
Crazy Dave: Those zombies just won't let up, will they?
Crazy Dave: You'll notice that fighting zombies at night is different than in the day.
Crazy Dave: For one, you won't get any sun falling in the sky.
Crazy Dave: You can still get sun from sunflowers, though.
Crazy Dave: And lucky for you, you got yourself some puff-shrooms.
Crazy Dave: Plant as many of those as you can and you'll be A-O-GOOD.
(Crazy Dave leaves)

Difficulty

• This level is the first level to feature Newspaper Zombies. They move faster once their newspapers are destroyed.
• The unlocked Puff-shroom costs only 0 sun, so it provides free defense. Players should take advantage of using it, as they will be unable to use Sun-shroom when playing this level for the first time.
• Zombies emerge from the graves on the final wave. A good defense should be built beforehand, as the player has no way of countering this ambush when this level is played for the first time.
• After Adventure Mode is completed for the first time, the player can remove all four graves by the Grave Busters.

Strategies

• Required plants:
  • Sunflower
  • Snow Pea
  • Puff-shroom
  • Wall-nut
  • Potato Mine
  • Repeater
• Sun does not fall from the sky during night levels, making sun production with Sunflowers less efficient than during the day.
• Plant as many Puff-shrooms as you can to kill the zombies.
• If you cannot cope with the speed of the Newspaper Zombies, use Wall-nuts to temporarily stall them while you build up more defenses. Or you can use the Snow Pea to slow him down once the newspaper is destroyed.
• This level can also be beaten with nothing but Puff-shrooms.

The warning for playing this level without Sunflower

The warning for playing this level without Puff-shroom

• This is the first level where coins appear.
  • The first money drop is always a silver coin
  • However, this is not the case in the web version, which has no money, and the old iOS version, where the first money drops are the Lawn Mowers from this level (if there are any), instead.
  • As of version 2.4.0 on the new iOS version however, the first money drop is a silver coin, just like most other versions of the game[but without the text telling the player to save up money to purchase cool stuff when collected].
• On the console versions of the game, VS and Co-op are both unlocked from a present (on the DS version, only VS mode is unlocked and the present is dropped at a later point in the level).
• If the player chooses to play the level without Sunflower or Puff-shroom on the first playthrough of Adventure Mode, the player will see unique warnings not present in any other part of the game.
• On the web version of the game, after the dialogue "for one, you won't get any sun falling in the sky", there is an additional dialogue, being: "For two... um... I forgot what two was."
