This page records all the updates and versions for Plants vs. Zombies: Original Edition. The game may be updated at any time, opening new features and fixing or adding glitches that can be encountered during the game.

2024

  • 31st March: The mini program's production was announced during the Press Conference (Player Meeting) held for the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2 as a new product.
  • 28th April: Beta version was released, and a Q&A regarding the mini program was posted, revealing the current plan being to port as much content as possible from the original game, as well as putting the mini program under the name of "Plants vs. Zombies 2: Evolve".
  • 29th April: V1.0.7 was released, doing a major bug-fixing and optimization to the game.
  • 30th April: V1.0.8 was released, adding a Gift Code Exchanging function, as well as bugfixes.
  • 30th April: Several hours later, V1.0.9 was released, doing a major bug-fixing and optimization.
  • 1st May: Promotional video for the game was published.
  • 6th May: V1.0.10 was released, adding Survival Mode and a leaderboard to it, as well as some adjustments to Marigold. A voting on which mini-game to be added first was also held, featuring options from Mini-games and Puzzle Mode, as a result, I, Zombie mode had won with 30% of voting to it.
  • 8th May: V1.0.11 was released, adding a progress-saving system, a Community Tab, and a level-skipping function.
  • In-between 8th and 9th May: V1.0.12 was anonymously released, doing few bug-fixes
  • 9th May: V1.0.13 was released, adding rewards in the Community Tab and an early-experience function for Survival Mode, allowing players to early-test it with all plants unlocked in it.
  • 11th May: Another Q&A was posted, revealing plans for Puzzle Mode, UI overhaul, major lag-optimization and bug-fixing, as well as a Versus Mode featuring three gamemodes: Human VS. Machine Match, Friend Invitation Match, and Random Match.
  • 11th May: Few hours later, V1.0.14 was released, adding Puzzle Mode that featured I, Zombie mode, as well as few bug-fixes.
  • 13th May: V1.0.15 was released, bringing few bug-fixes.
  • 14th May: V1.0.16 was released, adding the I, Zombie Endless level to complete that section of Puzzle Mode alongside a leaderboard for it, as well as optimizing the game.
  • 15th May: Promotional video for I, Zombie mode was published.
  • 17th May: Vasebreaker mode's development was announced and a preview was posted.
  • 18th May: V1.0.17 was released, bringing Vasebreaker mode to the Puzzle Mode, as well as adding new features to the Vasebreaker Endless level, that is, a leaderboard, few plant additions exclusive to the level, and the unused Zombie Vases that contain a zombie in them; additionally, it brought few bug-fixes.
  • 20th May: V1.0.18 was released, bringing several bug-fixes and some optimization.
  • 21st May: V1.0.19 was released, bringing several bug-fixes and more optimization.
  • 23rd May: V1.0.20 was released, bringing several bug-fixes.
  • 23rd May: Few hours later, promotional video for Vasebreaker mode was published.
  • 23rd May: Several hours later, V1.0.21 was released, bringing more bug-fixes and some optimization.
  • 26th May: V1.0.22 was released, bringing a lot of optimization and some bug-fixing.
  • 26th May: Few hours later, plans for Creative Mode were announced, inviting fans to collaborate within the game and bring new content, including but not limited to fan-made content.
  • In between 26th May and 31st May: Several versions were released anonymously, those being V1.0.23 and V1.0.24, likely bringing more bug-fixes and optimizations.
  • 31st May: V1.0.25 was released, adding Mini-games mode with Column Like You See 'Em being the first mini-game to it, as well as bringing an exclusive sequel level, that is, Column Like You See 'Em 2; additionally some bug-fixes and optimization was done.
  • 3rd June: V1.0.26 was released, adding a Monthly Sign-in function, essentially giving Twin Sunflower a second obtaining method, as well as optimizing the progress-saving function; additionally, a preview entrance for Creative Mode was added to the main interface, not yet open to the public.
  • 5th June: V1.0.27 was released, optimizing the Monthly Sign-in function, adding Dr. Zomboss's Revenge to the Mini-games, as well as doing some bug-fixing and optimization.
  • 7th June: V1.0.28 was released, optimizing Achievements, as well as bringing several bug-fixes.
  • 7th June: Several hours later, V1.0.29 was released, adding an exclusive sequel level to Mini-games, that is, Dr. Zomboss's Revenge 2, as well as doing few bug-fixes.
  • 7th June: More hours later, promotional video for Column Like You See 'Em was published, revealing an expansion pack for Vasebreaker mode.
  • 8th June: Another Q&A was posted regarding rumours of Creative Mode.
  • 11th June: V1.0.30 was released, adding 6 expansion levels to the Vasebreaker mode, as well as bringing some bug-fixes and optimization.
  • 14th June: V1.0.31 was released, opening Creative Mode to the public for beta-testing, while on it bringing 3 fan-made Vasebreaker levels to it, as well as doing slight optimizations.
  • 14th June: Several hours later, V1.0.32 was released, bringing 3 more fan-made levels, all being sequels to Column Like You See 'Em, as well as doing some optimizations.
  • 16th June: Beta version of V1.0.33 was publicly released anonymously, bringing majority of the content from official release of V1.0.33.
  • 18th June: V1.0.33 was officially released, bringing content from Plants vs. Zombies: Hybrid Edition to Creative Mode as a result of collaboration, which brought new plants: Ice-nut, Treasure Buster, Sun Bomb, Melon-nut, Crater-nut, Magnet-nut, Zombie Wall-nut, Supreme VIP Nut, Tall-Ice-nut, Torch-nut, Jala-nut, Winter Melon Cattail, Hamburger Shooter, Hot Dog Shooter, Nut Imitater, as well as Gloom Pumpkin, however not yet usable; new zombies: Green Conehead Zombie, Wall-nut Pole Vaulting Zombie, Screen Door Wall-nut Zombie, Armored Dancing Zombie, Armored Backup Dancer, Armored Gargantuar, Armored Giga-gargantuar, Newspaper Zomboni, as well as Conehead Jack-in-the-Box Zombie, however not yet fightable; new almanac, and a brand new level, Treasure Buster level; as well as bringing a major bug-fixing and optimization.
  • 19th June: V1.0.34 was released, bringing a major bug-fixing and optimization, as well as adjusting the difficulty of Treasure Buster level and optimizing it; additionally it moved the Hybrid Edition almanac separately to Creative Mode.
  • 19thh June: Few hours later, promotional video for the Plants vs. Zombies: Hybrid Edition collaboration was published, revealing further plans for more hybridisation getting ported to the game.
  • 20th June: V1.0.35 was released, adding Wall-nut Bowling and Wall-nut Bowling 2 to Mini-games, optimizing Treasure Buster level, as well as doing several bug-fixes and optimization.
  • 20th June: Few hours later, promotional video for Wall-nut Bowling was published.
  • 21th June: V1.0.36 was released, adding Whack a Zombie and Big Trouble Little Zombie to Mini-games, as well as fixing Screen Door Zombie's hitboxes, and fine-tuning the UI of Creative Mode.
