Zombopolis Apocalypse! is the eighth mission for the plant side in Plants vs. Zombies Heroes. The main opposing zombie hero in this mission is Super Brainz. This mission also features Neptuna and Electric Boogaloo as opposing zombie heroes.

Plot (Spoilers)

Super Brainz attempts to bring fame to himself by giving out newspapers about how brains are good and how plants are bad. He also replaces the mayor's statue with a statue of himself, infuriating Green Shadow, Solar Flare, Spudow, and Grass Knuckles. He initially manages to outsmart Green Shadow and Grass Knuckles by avoiding or dismissing their attacks, but was distracted by numerous mirrors. The Plant Heroes ambush and attack Super Brainz, who is defeated and flees under guise of a mild-mannered reporter.

This boss fight can be hard, as Super Brainz will have a deck consisting of many gravestones, such as Stealthy Imps, Smelly Zombies, Pogo Bouncers, and Surprise Gargantuars, on top of Brain Vendors. You should try to defeat Super Brainz as fast as you can or he will swarm the battlefield with gravestones.

Encounter Battle

For this deck, Super Brainz is once again trying to deal as much damage as possible to your hero, and will resort to using Pogo Bouncer to remove plants blocking his zombies. Fortunately, there are no tricks aside from Fun-Dead Raiser and all of his zombies have 3 strength or less, so Whack-a-Zombie can easily remove them.

Neptuna still uses and Imp deck, but with pirates, Medics and Monster Mash. Apply any previous strategies used to defeat her in order to do the same thing here.

Mini-Boss Battle

For this deck, Super Brainz has swapped out Mini-Ninjas and Fun-Dead Raisers in exchange for Headstone Carvers and Stealthy Imps. As such, a Guardian hero is recommended in order to remove the gravestones.

Teammate Battle (II)

Electric Boogaloo still uses a dancing deck, but now he brings Jesters into the equation. It is a good idea to use Wall-Knight for this battle, as he has access to Whack-a-Zombie and Grave Buster, both of which are useful in this deck.

Boss Battle

For this final deck, Super Brainz has fully resorted to using a Gravestone deck, and also introduces Tomb Raiser Zombie and Surprise Gargantuar, both of which are very dangerous. A Guardian hero deck with Grave Busters is highly recommended.

Trivia

• The location & the missions’s name could be a nod to the Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 Herbal Assault map, Zombopolis.
  • However, this game was soft released before Zombopolis was included, so Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 could reference this game.
• Before the 1.4.14 update, the drains in the gutters of the roads where the Heroes battle were glitched, going on top of the trucks instead of under them.
• One of the buildings in the arena’s background has the word "Bowl" on it with a Wall-Nut near a Zombie pin. This is a reference to the Wall-nut Bowling mini-game from Plants Vs. Zombies.
  • It could also reference the plant trick of the same name that is featured in this game.
• The mission has 2 streets named “Werner Rd. & Fan St.” referencing the creator & Artist of Plants Vs. Zombies, George Fan & Rich Werner.
• The big letter W & weiner in the background of the arena is a reference to Main Street in Plants Vs. Zombies Garden Warfare, where later in the map a big wiener spinning on a letter W is found.
• The “Z-Burger” restaurant in the arena is possibly a reference to Zomburger from Plants Vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2.
• In the start up screen of the game, the starting comic is different. It has a Peashooter where Green Shadow should be.
• The comic’s cover art was designed by Hominid Comics.
• The mission’s map & arena was drawn by Karin Madan.
• The comic cover at the start of the mission parodies the comic book series Action Comics, specifically issue #1 which introduced Superman. This is the same with the final strip, where Super Brainz' disguise references how Superman, as Clark Kent, works in a news agency.
• The car that Super Brainz lifts up in the cover art is Penny, Crazy Dave’s time traveling machine from Plants vs. Zombies 2.
