Battle of the Ox-Demon 5-5 was the fifth level of Battle of the Ox-Demon in Plants vs. Zombies: Journey to the West.
Difficulty
This is the first ever level to have different phrases. The boss also requires multiple plants to counter its different abilities. Heroes cannot be changed once selected either.
Strategies
Phase 1
- Required Plants:
- 3 columns of Flower Pots and 2 columns of Sun-shrooms are pre-planted. Therefore, there is no need for bringing extra sun-producing plants. Monk Flower can also produce a large amount of sun.
- 1 column of Snow Peas should be planted afterwards as utility.
- 2 Garlics should be planted before the two pairs of portals to redirect zombies to the other lanes.
- 5 Umbrella Leaves are then used to protect as much plants close to the left as possible as preparation for the upcoming two phases.
- Melon-pults should be spammed throughout the level across the lawn.
- Pumpkins are used to protect as much plants as possible as preparation for the upcoming two phases.
- At the end of the level, Ox-Demon King Zombot would appear and quickly got killed before causing too much damage to the defense.
Phase 2
- Required Plants:
- Repair defense and plant Umbrella Leaves if they had not been planted yet.
- The Ox-Demon King Zombot would be present since the start of the level and had more health.
- It might spawn fireballs and iceballs. Jalapeno and Ice-shroom should be saved to counter them.
- It may also shoot a laser with fire towards the plants. If the laser scans through the entire lane before being extinguished by Ice-shroom, it will destroy all the plants on the given lane.
- Umbrella Leaves are used to deflect its missiles and zombies being dropped from the sky.
Phase 3
- Required Plants:
- Same as Phase 2, but due to the lawn taking place in the morning, Coffee Bean is required to wake up Ice-shroom.

Trivia
- It is the first and only level to have different phases.
- Due to an oversight, during the plant selection sequence after the change of lawn, Monk Flower can still produce sun and force sun to drop from the sky. The sun do not despawn.
