From Plants vs. Zombies Wiki
Dr. Chester is a Scientist variant in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare. His Cheese Blaster deals 30 damage and has a very short-ranged attack, like the Chemist and Zoologist, but can shoot at a very fast speed. His weapon has eight ammunition. He is obtained by opening the Dr. Chester Character Pack.
Stickerbook description
Most Zombie Scientists choose to specialize in Neurology. They’re not really good at it, but it means they don’t have to pack a lunch when they go to work. Dr. Chester is different. He has a PhD in Cheeseology. How delicious is that?!
Primary weapon
The Cheese Blaster is the primary weapon of the Dr. Chester. It has a very limited range and is fully automatic. It has a 6 ammo clip (8 when upgraded) and deals 25 damage for every shot (30 when upgraded). All his weapon upgrades are given to you upon unlocking him.

Initially, you had to buy a specially marked package of Cheetos at a Target store and redeem an included code. However, everyone who owns the game as of September 5, 2014, can get him and Chester Chomper, their abilities, and upgrades for free. He and Chester Chomper do not return in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 as they are both promotional characters.
Strategies
As
Dr. Chester is very similar to the Chemist; he excels at close-range combat but is useless at medium to long range. His weapon is fully automatic and does not deal as much damage as Chemist in exchange. Use Warp or Energy Warp, preferably Cheesy Warp (which deals 30 damage), to get close to plants. Then attack them. Sticky Cheetah Balls work well with Dr. Chester as they are the only way to deal damage from afar and will deal 75 damage. A good strategy is to throw these into groups of plants, which will weaken (or vanquish) those near them when they go off, and then Warp towards them to finish them off with the Cheese Blaster. It takes one minute for both Sticky Cheetah Balls to recharge (30 seconds for each ball). Leave long-range combat to your teammates, as you will certainly lose if you try to engage with a Cactus in long-range combat.
Against
Attack Dr. Chester from long to medium range. He is useless from these ranges and can easily be vanquished with critical hits. Like all other Scientist variants, he has 100 health, so a fully charged headshot from Future Cactus will instantly vanquish him. As a Cactus, you can use the Garlic Drone, as he cannot shoot it down due to his very limited range. As you shoot him with the drone's Needle Shot, there is nothing he can do. If he or some of his teammates are crowded around a Zombie Heal Station, use the Corn Strike to make quick work of them. Do not let him get close to you, as you will likely be vanquished in seconds. As a Peashooter, vanquish him from afar using the Pea Gatling, which will take him out very fast (if you land your shots on him). If he gets too close, use Hyper to run away. If Hyper is not available, throw a Chili Bean Bomb against the nearest wall, and it may take him out, as he might not see it coming, or may have wasted his Warp(s) getting to you. As a Chomper, Goop him so he is not able to Warp away, and then vanquish him with the Burrow. If you cannot Burrow or use a Spikeweed, Goop him and then repeatedly chomp him or get behind him to instantly vanquish him. While he will probably repeatedly shoot you as well, the Chomper has more health than any Scientist. As a Sunflower, use Sunbeam or Solar Flare Beam to vanquish him quickly.

Trivia
- In Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, the Zoologist is a re-skinned Dr. Chester, without the unique abilities and with more range.
- He is the only promotional zombie variant, as all of the other promotional variants are of plant classes.
- Despite his absence in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, his weapon (the Cheese Blaster) and his exclusive abilities are still residing within the game's code and can be accessed via modding; this also applies to the other promotional characters.
