Transfiguration is an event plant card in Plants vs. Zombies Heroes and a member of the
Kabloom class. It costs 4
to play and has 4
/7
.
It does not have any traits, and its ability allows it to transform into a random Plant that costs 1
more at the end of each turn. This ability persists until the resulting plant is destroyed.
It was introduced in update 1.18.13, along with Go-Nuts, Witch Hazel, Haunted Pumpking, Ketchup Mechanic, Fraidy Cat, Sneezing Zombie, Exploding Fruitcake, Unexpected Gifts, and Frankentuar.
It was made available in the Food Fight bundle on November 14, 2017. As of update 1.24.6, it is now craftable.
Origin
It is based on the common fig (Ficus carica), an Asian species of flowering plants in the mulberry family best known for its leaf.
Its name is based on the real meaning of transfiguration, a complete change of form or appearance into a more beautiful or spiritual state.
Its appearance is a pun on the word "fig" in its name.
Its description both references its ability, and Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle, a part of quantum mechanics.

With
Transfiguration's results aren't consistent, but will turn threatening if given the chance, as it transforms if it survives until the end of the turn, and with each occurrence it becomes a more expensive plant that can generally have a greater impact than what it was before, regardless if the plant synergizes with the current deck or not. Its very high
for how early it is playable and the fact plants go second means it can be played reactively around the opponent's setup to pressure them. Its
will almost certainly force a response, though they might not be able to answer it on the same turn without resorting to tricks, Primordial Cheese Shover's Evolution ability and maybe
cards. Even in the case if it is removed, it may end up baiting out a card that could've countered a bigger threat in the deck.
Keep in mind that much like Reincarnation, Transfiguration will keep its ability even when transformed by another card, such as Molekale and Petal-Morphosis. Petal-Morphosis is too random to be reliable, but Molekale could potentially accelerate the process.
As transformation also counts as playing a plant, Astro-Shroom will activate its ability and damage the Zombie Hero. Captain Combustible can use it to boost Muscle Sprout, although he has cheaper cards to work with if he intends to build up threats or execute combos.
Against
Transfiguration should be destroyed at early as possible, since its strength is fairly high, and after a turn or two it could potentially grow out of control or at least irreversibly turn the game in the opponent's favor. Its durability only complicates matters, as chipping 7 health isn't easy without the use of hard removals or Deadly cards, and most zombies facing it will not survive the trade. Even so, the plant hero can play around that by putting Transfiguration in an empty lane, allowing it to have at least one guaranteed transformation.
As mentioned before, Sneaky Heroes can utilize Deadly cards if Transfiguration is used to front a Gravestone zombie. Barrel of Barrels (or Super Stench as Super Brainz and Impfinity) are examples of what would work unless the opponent has anti-Gravestone cards. Brainy heroes can simply destroy it with Rocket Science, likely the only trick capable of doing so alone on turn 4). While Immorticia can theoretically play Primordial Cheese Shover and utilize his Evolution ability, this requires the use of Cryo-Brain for Teleport or the presence of a Teleportation Zombie, being less consistent overall. Bouncing it is another valid option, since the card does not transform in the opponent's hand, thereby costing them valuable tempo.
