From Plants vs. Zombies Wiki
- For the version in Plants vs. Zombies, see Umbrella Leaf.
Umbrella Leaf is a colossal uncommon plant card in Plants vs. Zombies Heroes and a member of the Mega-Grow class. She costs 1 to play and has 1. She has the Team-Up trait, and her ability gives all plants on her lane and the lanes adjacent to her, excluding her, the Untrickable trait.
This ability persists until all Umbrella Leaves around the plant are removed from the field. Her closest zombie counterpart is Parasol Zombie.
Origins
She is based on the plant in Plants vs. Zombies with the same name and similar appearance. But unlike her appearance in Plants vs. Zombies, she has a purple flower in this game.
Her description is a play on the words "fond," meaning to enjoy something; and "frond," meaning a leafy part of a plant. It is also ironic, considering the fact that she is based on an umbrella.

Strategies
With
This is a card with incredible potential, being able to protect powerful plants that draw attention and are vulnerable to tricks, such as Doubled Mint, Pecanolith, Astro-Shroom, Soul Patch, etc. Her Team-Up trait also means she can hide behind other plants, patching her usual weakness of low health, although it's still advisable to boost her and keep an eye on her various counters.
To get the most out of her ability, play her on either the second, third, or fourth lane. To take this even further, try to play two Umbrella Leaves in those lanes that are adjacent to each other and behind other plants. This will make each other Untrickable, covering their usual weakness against tricks. If three of them are played in the second, third and fourth lanes, they will render all plants Untrickable, forcing your opponent to deal with them through other means.
Because of her flower tribe, Chompzilla can use her with Briar Rose and Power Flower. However, both of these synergies are questionable in practice. With her low health and annoying ability, she can easily be targeted by enemy removal without some sophisticated setup and therefore tends not to survive long enough for Power Flower to heal. While Briar Rose does allow you to pressure your opponent and force them into a dilemma, it's often far more advantageous to keep her on the field and use other, more expendable flower plants as bait.
It is worth noting that the Untrickable trait will not protect your plants from plant tricks that negatively affect plants, namely Doom-Shroom (with Grass Knuckles) and Tactical Cuke (with Chompzilla).
Grass Knuckles is especially dangerous when using Umbrella Leaf, as he has access to Force Field and Soul Patch. Force Field protects Soul Patch (and by proxy himself) from damage while two well-placed Umbrella Leaves can protect them all from tricks. This setup is fully invulnerable, unless the opponent bypasses it through bouncing/strikethrough cards or override Force Field with another environment.
Against
Be wary when playing tricks that affect multiple plants like The Chickening and Zombot Stomp, as any plants that are made Untrickable will be excluded from their ability. Tricks that target specific plants will not be able to be played on any plants protected by Umbrella Leaf, so you will need to either remove them with zombies or environments, or get rid of Umbrella Leaf first.
Remember that she herself is not Untrickable, and because of her low health, simple tricks like Bungee Plumber and Nibble can take her out easily. Other tricks can be used if she has been boosted, such as Alien Ooze and Rocket Science. If there are two of them overlapping, you cannot take them out with tricks, but you can use zombies like Fireworks Zombie and Barrel of Deadbeards to destroy both of them easily if they are unboosted.

Trivia
- She has an unused ability animation where her leaves extend across both lanes adjacent to her. This was likely meant for when she spawns and gives plants untrickable. It is only able to be seen by hacking.
- She shares the same voice actor as Pea Patch.
