Origins

Iceberg Lettuce's name is pun on her icy based appearance and ability to freeze zombies.
History
Plants vs. Zombies
- Main article: Iceberg Lettuce (PvZ)
While debuting in Plants vs. Zombies 2, Iceberg Lettuce was planned for the original Plants vs. Zombies game as a slowing lobber plant. Iceberg Lettuce lobbed frozen heads of lettuce at zombies in an arc, which ignored the Roof area's slant, bypassed various zombie shields, and attacked submerged Snorkel Zombies.
Zombies hit by these frozen heads of lettuce were also chilled, slowing them down to half their movement speed, effectively making Iceberg Lettuce the ice equivalent to Cabbage-pult, in a similar manner to how Snow Pea is with Peashooter. Just like Snow Pea's frozen attacks, however, zombies chilled by Iceberg Lettuce can be thawed by fire attacks from plants such as Torchwood and Jalapeno.
While this incarnation of Iceberg Lettuce was ultimately scrapped, the idea of an "Ice Cabbage-pult" would eventually be integrated into the series however, appearing in Plants vs. Zombies 3 through Cabbage-Pult's Tacobility, where it is instead named "Cold Slaw".
Plants vs. Zombies 2
- Main article: Iceberg Lettuce (PvZ2)
Iceberg Lettuce's first proper appearance in the series is in Plants vs. Zombies 2, as the second plant unlocked in Ancient Egypt.
Iceberg Lettuce freezes the first zombie that comes near it, immobilizing them for ten seconds. She is introduced as a counter for the Explorer Zombie, as her ice based ability can extinguish his plant igniting torch.
In the international version of Plants vs. Zombies 2, Iceberg Lettuce can be leveled up using seed packets to increase the amount of zombies she can freeze, the duration of how long they are frozen, the area in which she can freeze, and gains the ability to chill and slow down zombies after they are no longer immobile.
In the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2, Iceberg Lettuce can be leveled up using Puzzle Pieces to give her the ability to fire short range ice ball as zombies, making her similar to Puff-shroom but with the ability to freeze zombies when they get near.
Plants vs. Zombies Heroes
- Main article: Iceberg Lettuce (PvZH)
Iceberg Lettuce's next appearance is in the turn-based mobile game Plants vs. Zombies Heroes, where she is is a common Smarty trick in the Premium card set.
She costs one to play and playing her allows the player to
Freeze any trickable zombie on the field, making them skip their attack during the Fighting phase. Her low cost and common rarity makes her a staple card in any
Freezing synergy decks.
Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville
- Main article: Iceberg Lettuce (PvZ: BfN)
Iceberg Lettuce's latest reappearance is the third-person shooter game Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville where she is a Defend class who specializes in immobilizing enemy zombies.
She attacks with a shotgun-like ice blast weapon named the [insert name here] which can slow down zombies hit by it and can freeze zombies that are repeatedly attacked with it.
In addition to her chilling primary weapon, Iceberg Lettuce also comes equipped with several ice-based abilities including an evasive dash which leaves behind an exploding Chilly Pepper which freezes any surviving zombies caught in its explosion radius, a playable ice shield that blocks all zombie projectiles while also allowing plants to walk and fire through it, and [insert final third ability description here].
Plants vs. Zombies Mini Programs
In the merge puzzle game Plants vs. Zombies 2: Guard, Iceberg Lettuce is obtained by merging two Magic Vines and serves as the tier 31 plant the player can merge plants into. Iceberg Lettuce attacks zombies by shooting frozen projectiles at them not unlike how she does in the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2. These projectiles can by aimed by tapping on the screen where the player wants them to be fired. Two Iceberg Lettuces can be merged into a Rafflesia.
In Plants vs. Zombies 2: Garden, Iceberg Lettuce is the first plant to be unlocked in the Slow Down line. She has 3 upgrade variations, namely Intermediate Iceberg Lettuce, Advanced Iceberg Lettuce and Iceberg Lettuce Master.
