Acorn

From Plants vs. Zombies Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Acorn is a playable plant class in Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville and is the plant equivalent of the Space Cadet. He is a PvZ BfN Defend Class Icon.png Defend class who specializes in team-ups and group attacks.

He can attack solo and function as a fast moving scout class, transform into an Oak and operate as a slow-moving explosive class, or ride on top of an Oak as an Acorn Passenger and function as a playable mounted-turret.

Descriptions

In-game description

Acorns work best when they attack in groups. Transform into Oak, and load up with Acorn passengers who'll get increased firepower and survivability.

Primary Weapons

Shell Shot (Solo)

Short-range rapid-fire weapon.

In-game description

Acorn's primary weapon is the Shell Shot, which rapidly fires wood chunks, each chunk dealing 6.6 damage each (8 critical). Can fire 45 times before needing to reload.

Treetop Turret (Passenger)

Deal lots of damage or use to suppress enemies.

Acorn Passenger's primary weapon is the Treetop Turret, which fires wood chunks, but each chunk only deals 4.6 damage (6 critical) and fires at a rate of 800 RPM (rounds per minute). To compensate for the reduced damage, Treetop Turret has infinite ammo. It can't be fired for too long though, as it can overheat (similarly to the All-Star's Football Cannon).

Strategies

With

As an Acorn Passenger, you can make an Oak much more dangerous. Acorn can attack zombies that the Oak is ignoring or add up extra firepower against the same target. Use Lumber Support to keep an Oak in the fight longer and to prevent you, the Oak, or any other passengers unrevivable. Getting three Passengers on a single Oak can make the Oak a lot tankier.

However this doesn't make you invincible. Acorns can take damage while riding an Oak and even be vanquished before the Oak itself, so make sure to use your Lumber Support to heal yourself as well as Oak so you can keep riding and supporting it.

Against

Builds

Oakie Dokie — by StickSurfer

This entire build is focused on all-out attacking as an Oak and retreating as an Acorn. Rush into enemy lines as an Acorn, deal as many vanquishes as you can, then transform into an Oak while you are armored. Deal heavy damage as an Oak, supported by your increased Ammo clip and more-deadly Log. If you're low on health, deal as many vanquishes as you can, and then eject and use Acorn Dash like your life depends on it.

Position Conqueror — by Duke Selenian

The strategy behind this Bulid is to mantain a certain position in Herbal Assaults, and be an huge menace at Gardens&Graveyards. Especially in a Herbal Assault with a payload, your team will need tankers that can mantain crucial positions to win. Either a Citron, or a loaded Oak can perform this decently. However, instead of just being vanquished and go back to spawn, eject and use the mobility of Acorn to maintain the control of the area until the rest of the plants arrive. For people that don't want to really use it as an tanker upgrade, can use it to be an scout in advanced positions.

Tips & Tricks

  • While playing as a standalone Acorn, detonate your Sap Trap to launch yourself in the air, making you harder to hit and disorienting your enemies. Combining your Sap Trap jump with Acorn Dash can greatly increase your mobility, and using them in unexpected ways is essential to evading your enemy’s shots.
  • When facing Super Brains with the Branium Basher 9001 upgrade, try to evade in diagonals, making it dificult for Super Brains to land a fatal hit on you. This tip is even more useful when combined with a jump. This tip also works for Night Cap.
  • As Lumber Support can now give overhealth, it may be recomended to join a Oak as a passenger and use the ability to gain extra HP. This can be really useful in a match without Sunflowers. Furthermore, if the player is using the Hardend upgrade, the extra HP can make the player survive a hit from Yeti, Set, GO!, an ability from the character TV Head.
  • It's recomended to use Sap Trap to gain a advantage in a fight. Using it to finish enemies can be a good ideia, given that the opponent will not have time to run away.
  • Be extra careful when dealing with 80s Action Hero or Captain Deadbeard, as they can land a hit-kill on their full-charged shots.
