Frostbite Caves - Day 23 is the twenty-third level of Frostbite Caves in Plants vs. Zombies 2. It is a Save Our Seeds level. To complete this level, the player must protect five Chard Guards in the second column. After completing this level, the player receives a money bag.

Difficulty

The coordinated Snowstorm attacks will not threaten the Chard Guards, but they will make them lose their leaves throughout the level.

Weasel Hoarders are dangerous in this level, as their Ice Weasels can deplete the Chard Guard's leaves and eventually the entire plant quickly if the player does not have a good setup.

Waves

The small number next to the zombie icon means that zombie will always appear in that lane, with 1 being the topmost lane and 5 being the bottommost lane.

Strategies

Strategy 1

  • Required plants:
  • In this strategy the Wall-nuts and Chard Guards will be your main lines of defense. The Pepper-pults and Snapdragons will be the offensive plants. When the game first starts, plant a column of Sunflowers behind the Chard Guards. Use the Hot Potato to melt the Twin Sunflowers, and sell them. When the first zombie comes, plant a Pepper-pult in front of the Chard Guard in whichever lane the zombie comes from. You will now be adding Pepper-pults directly in front of the Chard Guards for one column. Next, place your Snapdragons in front of the Pepper-pults for a second column. In the first row you can choose to plant all offensive plants or have one Wall-nut right before the ice floes should anything cross. When you have enough sun dig up your Sunflowers and replace them with Twin Sunflowers. Soon a column of Sunflowers should be replaced by Twin Sunflowers. You can now keep adding Pepper-pults and Snapdragons until there are about four offensive plants in each row. Afterwards, place your Chard Guards or Wall-nuts in front of every row. Try to alternate between Snapdragons and Pepper-pults, at least so that the Snapdragons will not be frozen. It is best to plant Snapdragons directly behind defensive plants as they can melt any ice on the plants.

Strategy 2

  • Required plants:
  • This strategy relies on resource management and you being calm at all times. If you have the Imitater, use it on Hot Potato - this is one of the only levels in Frostbite Caves that sees Hot Potato as one of the key plants.
  • First things first. Unfreeze the three Twin Sunflowers, but don’t dig them just yet. Use the sun you obtain to plant even more Twin Sunflowers at the back.
  • The portion of the level before the first snowstorm is the most tame. Take advantage of this and put Pepper-pults down the fourth column. Consider adding some Bonk Choys as well down the third column.
  • When the first snowstorm arrives, so will the first Weasel Hoarder. Dig up the three Twin Sunflowers you thawed earlier and put a Chard Guard wherever the WH ends up due to the slider tiles.
  • Maintain your defenses. Weasels skip over the slider tiles which make them dangerous. Should they reach the Pepper-pults, Bonk Choys will single them out. Hunter Zombies are ineffective due to Pepper-pults being out front (unless there are Chard Guards in the way). Hot Potato takes care of Troglodytes, and the rest of the level can be beaten pretty easily.

Strategy 3 (Has optional gemium content)

  • The most important thing to do at the beginning is to get a column of Winter Melons in the first column. In order to do that, use Hot Potato on the frozen Twin Sunflowers. You will also need to stall the zombies a lot; Stunion and Hurrikale could be useful here.
  • Start by placing Winter Melons in the fourth and fifth rows, as those are the lanes that all zombies, excluding Ice Weasels and Dodo Rider Zombie, will be in.
  • After the first flag, if you don't yet have all 5 Winter Melons in the first column, wait for the Weasel Hoarder to come to the fourth row, as that way, he will be able to be taken care of by Winter Melons, and not just Chard Guards.
  • Once you have a Winter Melon in each row, you are basically home free, just keep tending to your Chard Guards via Wall-Nut First Aid.
