Plants vs. Zombies 2 (formerly referred to as Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time, abbreviated as PvZ2) is a tower defense game released by PopCap Games. This game is a sequel to the award-winning game Plants vs. Zombies. It was released for PC and Mac on Thursday, August 15, 2013 and on mobile devices on Wednesday, October 23, 2013. This time, the player battles new zombies in a time travel adventure.
In this alternative timeline PvZ 2 is a pay game like PvZ 1 and there are some extra diferences.
See articafts and pendants, balance/reworks and area overviews.
Diferences between this and the original
- The main diference is that the game needs to be purchased instead of being free.
- Chinese version in this timeline don't exists and most of the exclusive content is in this version.
- The worlds got renamed to get "better names", Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum and East Sea Dragon Palace were renamed and remodeled to Age of Metals (because KW exists) and Submerged Atlantis (because ESDP was based in a novel)
- Seed Packets are now a global coin, they can be purchased with coins and they are used to level-up plants.
- The old maps and the star sistem weren't deleted, they just got reworked.
- In the Adventure Mode beating a level opens the continuing paths.
- Stars now works like in Penny's Pursuit, some stars aren't necesary to beat the level.
- World Keys are obtained in Gargantuar levels and they inmediately unlock the next world
- There isn't a world map, instead there is only a world changing tab and portalsa like in the first versions.
- Only the 3DS version haves is a world map, this was made to show a world preview tab and use the 3D efects of this console.
- The game has been ported to consoles like the original PvZ, PvZ 2 was ported to PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, WiiU and Nintendo 3DS.
- The Nintendo 3DS and the WiiU versions were discontinued because Nintendo refused to fuse the eShop with Origin and EA started a campaign against Nintendo.
- The game has a Dynamic Difficulty like in Arena: the game now can evaluate the player's skill level and reduce/increase the ammount of zombies.
- There are two values: the "normal skill" and the "level skill", the level skill only works in a level and you modify it if the level gets hard/easy for you, the level skill starts depeding of the normal skill. The normal skill can be changed if you get many times a low/high level skill or if you upgrade your plants.
- Many plants have been nerfed/buffed.
- Now Almanac, Zen Garden and Shop open a tab like Travel Log instead of covering all the screen.
- There are some new worlds:
- Chinese worlds are included here.
- The Zombosseum and Backyard Big Top were worlds in this version.
- Primitive Tribe and Viking World came to this version.
- There are two new worlds: The Plantheon (Greek Empire) and Space Race.
- Thymed Events and Penny's Pursuit now work without Fuel.
- Updates now are more interesting, they feature new modes, zombies and balance changes.
- There are more versions of this game:
- The PC version for Windows and macOS, this is the original.
- The phone version for Android and iOS, is like the original but haves adapted controls for mobile devices.
- The console version for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One and his succesors; plus of Nintendo Swtich.
- The WiiU version is a "sub-version" who was descontinuated because EA tried to fuse eShop with Origin.
- The 3DS version who was also discontinued by the mentioned reason.
- The Official PvZ is more active in this timeline, making more videos like:
- Dev Diary: They talk about the PvZ 2 Updates.
- Animations: Featuring the new plants and zombies, also the events and Thymed Events
- What's New in the Community: A new series of videos talking about the best gameplay moments.
- Most of those series also features the Heroes, All Stars, Garden Warfare 2 and Battle for Neighborville games.
